En Cuarentena

I crafted this set of five short stories to use in my classroom with my Spanish 1 students. I am attempting to use these to really introduce the past tense. At the time of writing this, though, I am trying to do this in quarantine. It’s perhaps a hopeless effort. In addition to the stories I have a set of vocabulary phrases that I gave to my students to help them prepare for the story. All are accessible as pdf’s below. There are even Textivate Links, if you’re into that sort of thing.

My goal for these stories, apparently dark, is to help students think about the seriousness of the situation and the seriousness of their actions. For some students this may hit too close to home, but for many I hope it brings them closer to the situation and makes it a little more real.

Alfonso lives in Orlando, Florida. He has a small family but is rather careless towards the whole quarantine thing. He thinks it is stupid and the only thing it does is hinder his life style. This, of course, until the situation hits a little too close to home…
